Until now Pod cars were unattainable to all but big features and shows that could justify the single vehicle use. Through the innovative thinking of a team that has revolutionized picture vehicle methods for a quarter century that has all changed. By developing noninvasive kits that fit vehicles based on their Model, there are now countless options of cars that can be day played as pod cars.
When a car with one of our pod kits arrives on set, it is ready to roll, under its own power, on its own wheels, at the right height. The challenges of camera cars and tow rigs, simply don't exist. In some cases you don't even need to close the road. Thinking about green screen? A pod car has no plate shots, no green screen, no sound stage, no vfx. Just drive and shoot. Some of our customers even use our pod cars to shoot during a company move!
On set safety for the whole crew improves when using a pod to shoot car work. Not only is there is no longer a need for multiple crew members to ride on an open unstable oversized vehicle, but with a pod car, the vehicle is operated by a professional stunt driver from your crew. Safety is no longer reliant on your cast's ability to multitask, it is not even reliant on their ability to drive, because they don’t.
Vehicle safety is our top priority. That is why not only do the vehicle's factory safety systems remain in place, our proprietary method directly connects the pod to the vehicle's factory control systems. This means even in the unlikely event of complete power, engine and electronic failure, the pod driver will still be able to control the vehicle. We also keep that driver safe, not just with five point harnesses and race seats, but ours are the only cages that meet SCCA standards, giving the pod driver race car level safety.
Using a pod car, there is no need to frame out a camera car. You can shoot any angle, and multiple angles simultaneously. But Its not just angles, depth of field, ride height and reflections that make your process work more believable. It is how your cast interacts with the vehicle. The ability to turn the wheel, the real bumps, their movement in and reaction to their environment all seems more real, because it is. This reality frees your cast to concentrate on their performance, which is what will ultimately make your car work great.
